  12.                        INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  15.                         First Time Installation
  16.  
  17. 1. Place the Wallpaper Manager Plus diskette in your floppy disk drive.
  18.  
  19. 2. Select File/Run in the Program Manager's menu.
  20.  
  21. 3. Type a:\setup in the Command Line box then click OK (or b:\setup if 
  22. you are using floppy drive B:).
  23.  
  24. 4. Click Install in the Setup program menu to begin installation. 
  25. Click Help for more information about the installation process.
  26.  
  27.                          Upgrade Installation
  28.  
  29.         If you are upgrading from a version of Wallpaper Manager 
  30. previous to v2.50:
  31.  
  32. 1. You should manually delete all the old Wallpaper Manager program 
  33. files except your original WALL.INI and any galleries you have created.
  34.  
  35. 2. Create a new directory to hold the new version of Wallpaper Manager 
  36. Plus you will be installing, e.g., C:\WALL.
  37.  
  38. 3. Copy your original WALL.INI file to this directory.
  39.  
  40. 4. Start the Wallpaper Manager Plus Setup program as described above. 
  41. Specify the new directory you have created in step 2 as the 
  42. installation directory.
  43.  
  44.         If you are upgrading from v2.50 or later:
  45.  
  46. 1. Start Setup as described above. Specify your current Wallpaper 
  47. Manager directory as the installation directory. Setup will upgrade 
  48. your copy while preserving your current WALL.INI and WALL.GAL.

  52.   CHANGES SETUP AND WALLPAPER MANAGER MAKE TO YOUR WINDOWS SYSTEM
  53.  
  54. Files: Setup copies the Wallpaper Manager files to the hard disk 
  55. directory you specify in the Install dialog. The Help/Uninstall menu 
  56. option in Wallpaper Manager will delete all and only these files and 
  57. the Wallpaper Manager directory provided it is empty following the 
  58. deletion.
  59.  
  60. WIN.INI: Setup and Wallpaper Manager may modify the load= line in the 
  61. [windows] section if you enable Autostart. Any change is undone if you 
  62. Uninstall. Wallpaper Manager also changes the wallpaper= line in the 
  63. [desktop] section during regular operation. If you Uninstall and the 
  64. current wallpaper is not in BMP, DIB, or RLE format then this line 
  65. will be set to null otherwise it is unchanged. Under Windows NT the
  66. Win32s build makes these changes to the Registry (NT does not use
  67. WIN.INI for 32-bit applications).

  69. SYSTEM.INI: No changes.
  70.  
  71. AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS: No changes.
  72.  
  73. Program Items and Groups: Setup creates a Wallpaper Manager Plus 
  74. program group containing a WallPlus program item that you can use to 
  75. launch Wallpaper Manager and a WM+ ReadMe file icon that will display 
  76. this file in your default editor (usually Windows Notepad). Uninstall 
  77. does not delete the items or the group.

  169. Some of these files are named differently on the distribution disk. 
  170. Files with extensions ending in an underscore (e.g., EX_) have been 
  171. compressed. Files with extension CR_ are encrypted and compressed 
  172. (encrypted files are only included in shareware distribution package). 
  173. The Setup program decompresses and decrypts the distribution files as 
  174. needed during installation.

  176. * The ?? is replaced by 16 for Win16 (16-bit) versions and 32 for 
  177. Win32s (32-bit) versions.
